As 2011 comes to an end

I hope you all had a wonderful year. I have thoroughly enjoyed being your teacher this year. Of course, like any year, we have our ups and downs but like I have always said if you stick to your true path you will find what you have been looking for. Sometimes what we have been looking for is just around the corner or is right in front of us. What we need to do is notice it and then take it and use it.

Your life is about your character. How you treat yourself as well as how you treat others. So always remember the Deanwell saying. "You have two hands, one to help yourself and the other the help others."

I hope you have learnt lots, enjoyed lots and continue to be good.

Great Assembly

Do you guys remember when we were on Assembly I thought it was Great. When we sang everyone walked in quietly. The Drama Team preformed I thought everyone was great but me, the Chief Editor, Yeah, I know you know who that is I just don't want to say my name. I hope you liked the drama we did.

Assembly appointment

Well there has been a lot of interest in the speaking role for our assembly on Monday. Some of you have even got into begging for the job but that won't be the reason why I will choose who I choose.

When I am back at school tomorrow I will let you know who one of the people will be and the names of the others will be put in a hat and one name will be drawn out. It will be the responsibility of those two people to make up the script for assembly. Soooooo.......

My Weird game(Basket ball game)

Hi. This is Ara talking, I don't know why but I am going to tell you about my game,(Basket ball game). Today tuesday the something I had a basket ball game (I play for yr 7 and 8s) and we played a tall team but they sucked. The tallest player in there team always said he had me because im to good (nah he had me because i was the shortest).when we started, you know how you jump well after someone jumped this boy caught the ball and did a layup but missed he tryed to rebound but when his feet touched the ground his ankle twisted and he started crying, I felt sorry for him but at the same time i giggled inside. Like usual we won. Yeah we won. Bye

Orewa College is asking parents to fork out $799 for an IPAD 2 at the beginning of next year. What do you think are the benefits of an IPAD. We have two in our school and I have been asked to discover the ways it can be used effectively in the school as an educational tool. Have your say. Remember to think about it as a tool for student learning rather than a toy. I am not going to let you know what I think at this stage.

On Saturday it was my Dads friends birthday. So Scott
(my Dads friend) decided that we should do something fun. When we were there Dad,Scott and I had some lunch to munch on. Soon after lunch I jumped up and I put some cream on plates. After doing that I said "hurry up you old men especially you Scott!!!" Then they walked out the door with no comment. So I ran out the door and "splat" on dads face. "Oh how fun can this get" I say to myself. Then dad suddenly get me like in the photo "Oh man!!!". That's it I'm getting you again, but dad runs off around the house. Scott and I started chasing him round and round and then I trick him. "Dad look at this cool bug" I say. So he turns round and I gave him another splat in the face ha-ha dad. And that's the End for now

Choc fuge

to make a choc fuge you will need.....

2cups of flower-or 1 and a half of brawn cup

1 and a half of a cup of sugar

3 Teaspoons of baking power

1 cup of coconut

add

1 and a half lb butter melted

bake 180 for 20minutes

ice while hot

My Banana Cake

To Make my Banana cake you need....

125g (40zs.) Flour

175g (60zs.) Sugar

2 Mashed Bananas

1 Teaspoon Bicarb Soda

Next....

2 tablespoons of boiling milk

1 teaspoon Edmond's baking powder 225g (80zs.)

Then...

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, mashed bananas, then bicarb soda dissolved in boiling milk.

Lastly add flour and baking powder previously mixed bake in two greased sandwich tins for 20 Min's

at 180oc (350'f

When your finish fill with whipped cream and sliced bananas.

Jack Johnson

Jack Johnson come come come to our school we have got a video of me and my class singing Upside down. We would really love it if you came because you have been to Deanwell School before so come along again. Mr.T would love it too.

We have also added a bit of a rap to it that we all know.

Our native art work

Well here it is team. The long awaited video of our class camp art. I encourage you to post your poem that goes along with this art work on our blog. As a class we recorded our singing of Jack Johnson's song 'Upside Down.' We added a piece of rap, which I wrote which talks about everyone of us being different and that we need to share and care as well as show tolerance to others, which in the end is respect.

We recorded it using a free program called Audacity. We hope Mr Johnson likes our rendition and if there is anybody out there who knows Mr Johnson maybe you could get him to get in contact with Deanwell school, just like he did last year.

Christchurch Earthquake appeal

Earlier in the year a group of students from C4 managed to raise $200 towards the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The local paper came on board and wrote an article in the free paper. A local MP Tim Macindoe read this article and was most impressed with their efforts that he wrote a letter and gave a certificate for their efforts. On Monday Mr Poland (Deanwell School Principal) presented each of the 6 students with their own certificate at our school assembly. Thanks Mr Macindoe for noticing and doing something to recognise the students empathy and awareness.

Sentences

I have had quite a few of you and your parents ask me about the differences between a simple, compound and a complex sentence. This can be a very tricky task to know how to recognise the differences. If you don't know how something works how are you supposed to use it yourself. Am I right or am I right?

Drama in c4

In C4 we have been learning about drama and not just normal drama. It's silent. We can't talk. It's really hard but you will get used to it.

We were doing electives. It was on Tuesday and Thursday.

We worked in groups of four. Olivia,Tinisha,Aisha and me were in a group.

my bird

My birds name is cinamin. She is a girl. She has rosy cheeks. Her colours are gray yelow red and white. Cinamin can say whos a pretty pretty pretty peitty birdie.She can puff up.cinamins eyes are black.cinamin has a bit of hair on the top of her head. cinamin has sharp claws like a pin.

Cool water

I am at home with my brother and sister my brother told me to get my togs I asked "why" "because we are going to the river" "So cool" I siad who is taking us "sister is" siad my brother i siad "ok" but we are going in half an hour "what" I siad.

about half an hour later we were on our way to the river, when we got there my brother and my sister just jumped in but it was not hot it went cold so I was not hot, it went so I was not as hot like the desert Island I just put my feet in it was cold like an ice bloke but colder.Then my sister came up and splashed me after she had splashed me sha pushed me in I started to shever I don't know how long i could stay in there for I could not talk as lord I had to cured my toes in to a ball my legs and my feet had gone red like an apple I siad to mysilf how can I stay in this water?

After a bit I got out and my legs and my arms felt like speghitte my brother got out to and so did my sister I siad "can we go now"!! my sister siad "yep why not" me and my brother siad "we just exserese cold water" I siad " we did to" we got home and after noon tea and told mum all about it we siad "we wish you had came mum" my mum siad "me too"

Going to Peru

Soon my mum is going to Peru. She has already booked her hotel's for staying in and her flight's witch cost a lot. Like around $8000 but the 3 or 4 star hotel's cost about $9000 or more. The good thing is that I get about $1000 money back from Peru. If you want to go there when your older you'll have to work really hard and have a lot of money. Peru is a dangerous country so if you go there stick with a group. Also I get some new clothes witch cost $10.

So I hope everything goes well for her and she's leaving on the 19th before teacher interview's . I'll miss her but hopefully she bring's back lots of wrist bands and other thing's for me. Then when she's back we can watch movie's and have hot chocolate.

Queen's B-Day

On Sunday it's the Queen's Birthday and there is no school yahoo. I'm not sure if it is her Birthday for real but in England they don't have a Queen's Birthday. Isn't that weird, I mean like really weird. That's were the Queen live's in England. And Prince William has just got married to Kate Middleton. But Prince William's Mum died from the photographer's chasing them in a car. Anyway no school for three day's is super supremo but less day's for sport, and also no friend's for a day.

It was a sunny day mum said ''Get up'' I said ''It is 7:oo in the morning'' she said "I dont care oh and grab your togs ok" I said "Mum where are we going?" "Just wait and see" "Just give us a clue please""Ok it has got sand there. Where there mum yelled beach ya I got out of the car and ran straight for the changing room. Anna-maree you forgot your togs. Oh can you bring them to me please. Sure. I got changed and put on some sunblock and ran straight to the water. I put one foot in the water. I said oh that is cold. I jumped in and said o that's cold that's cold. I got goose bumps straight away. I jumped up and down. I finally got used to it. Then it was time to go home. On the way home we we got some food and that was my day at the beach.

Cold water

When I was at camp I got in the river and It was so freezing and icy cold. Cold water is so cold. Whenever I am in cold water I am cold. When I was at gallagher pools I was in the big pool.

The big pool was so deep and I was in it. I went in it and it was very cold. My body began to shake. It was about to get freezing and cold.

the experienced going in cold water

When I experienced going in cold water it made me a little bit tired, spaghetti arms floating on the surface as my head popped up and down. It was the first time going swimming at the pools. My mum told me to get in the water and lance jumped in and splashed me in the face and i splashed him back in the face. Then we went back home for lunch.We had fish and chips. It was nice and yummy. We went to the river. We jumped and did a back flip off the rocks and i just about broke my leg on the rocks and it was sore. The end.

Icy cold!!!

Once last year my Uncle,Mum,Dad and I went to Waihi to have a nice one day holiday. First stop the beach. I saw the sea so I started to run and I jumped in.I jumped out and said "it's so cold".So I tried to get in then stay in there."Still cold" I say to myself. "But I can handle it" I say out loud, but still it's very cold. Dad say's to me "just get in and move around, that way you'll get warmer". "Mmm maybe I've tried doing that before, it doe'nt work very well". "So just try it". "Okay Okay settle down" I say. Then I decide to dive in. "Oh yeah I guess your right". It did warm me up.

Later on we went to have a good
time having a nice toasty hot
chocolate.

Swimming is normally warm but I walked in to the beach slowly andI screamed .Swimming is so cold even if it is a hot day. It feels like you are in a ice cube and it cracks and it cracks all over you and it feels like hail is dropping all over you. I walk in slowly and stay in it beach and I screamed like a girl I was so cold this is the coldest exprence I have had in my life but one time it was pritty cold but not colder then this one this one feels like you are in a packet of vegtables and I feel like a pile of them. And I am going to jump of the brige but i am affrid of the water because it is soo cold but I do it and i fight the water and I get out but I walk in slowly and it is time my tummy is getting hungry but food is cold so I say never mind i jump in the beach and stay in there and then my mum says five mins

I'am at the pools other kids having more fun than me have been there for 1 hour.I'am just getting in the water Mum says lets gets changed and leave to aunty's and my cousins are in the pool the pool is ice ice cold I say ok I'll do a batista bomb in the pool I yell out cold I like water very ice water I 'am staying for 3 hours mum says lets go now I say ok I jump out shivering I jump in the car its warmer we go home and have dinner then go back over to my cousin's again we jump back in the pool its warmer now.

frezzing cold water

i was at lake toupo with my famaly Itwas cool when we wher playing tag on the beach. but when i got in the frezzing cold walter i got in andmy body sudenle whent frozen .and i could go in til i couldent walk it was skerey all the jetseys were zooming past me . all the cold walter splashing on my head my mum tould me to come back you are to fare away so my big brother came to get me he sead it was trast me when i got back i ate buns and saled then my anty came back with sum FISH&CHIPS...........

Frezzing cold water

It was a sunny day. I just got out of bed. sudently someone shouted we're going to the beach"yes I whispered"get what you need quickly step on it . I didn't know my cousin was coming they were siting peacefully in the car with there togs. we took two cars because there were more cousin coming. we packed our bags loaded it into the car and we were ready to go.


As we arived at the beach. I was dying to have a swim,not knowing that the water was cold I swiftly jumped into the the water,sudenyly I jumped out with a flash, I felt like a frezzer ready to burst,myfeet felt numb as though each tiny little toe was going to fall off. I was five at the time I was so little and not tough so I couldn't handle the cold frezzing water. I waited... for every minute I would run to the water and feel it, each time i felt the water it got warmer. I felt it one last time. finaly it was warm. I jumped in and my aunty shouted "we're going home" "doh"I said like homer simpson and went home sad.

My cold water story

On the fifteenth of may 2010 I went to a really special city side lake .


When I got there I was nervos I got closer and closer I turned away


and looked at my Aunty Renee and fell in and got a fright then quickly


jumped out then yelled "That was cold but fun". My body went so


numb I could not walk and dried myself with the towel

Then I jumped in and and splashed my Aunty then I suddenly got


a hudge fright when I turned around and there was a hudge frog


that was about to jump on me. Me and my Aunty quickly ran to the car


and we both were off like jets in the sky then we both got home


safely and never heard from that crazy frog again untill it came up on the


News "someone went to that beach and that beach got closed forever .

FREEZING!!! UNWANTED WATER!!!

My friends Rhyhan and Anthoney were already in the waterand calling me in to the water.
In the end I got in the water dut it was freezing cold. the rest of the day I had lots of fun we went home for lunch. we had somthing deliciously good. then we went back to pockahenu beach for a littil bit longer. then we all went home and got the trailer and kayak.

Muddy Mountain

Once upon a time we climbed Pirongia.So first we had to go slerp slerp through all that mud.So I am telling you Mum,Dad,Roger and I had to go through that mud.But I the super awesome one went around it,because I love it NOT.Anyway I got sore legs.The pain was killing me.It felt frosty around the top and we all thought we were there, but no not yet.The wind through my body gave me goose bumps "sssssshhhhhh"it was cold I said.Mum kept standing on branches which then I had to wait for her.Roger, he sped up like a....well, I really actually don't know, but he was fast.Dad was alright but he always stopped for snacks and drinks which I didn't like.I helped everyone with lots of things,but they didn't think so.While I was climbing up I saw a beautiful fantail with brown feathers and a big fat golden tummy.After that we took off then Mum said "where's Roger" I replied "probably at the top". When we went further and I climbed the slippery rock, which was really big. That's when we found Roger near the top.He waited for us then took off isn't that weird.I nearly got there and I thought it was the end because of the light flashing in my eyes "owwww" I said.Finally we got to the top,we all were tired but then I saw Roger chewing on his lunch.So I ran to him and he said are you tired.So I said "I sure am what about you" "naaa not really" he replied.Then Mum came along and said "wow nice view".Then Dad came along and said "polly want a cracker" naaa not really but he said "wow what a view".Don't you think he copied Mum saying that.Anyway we got out our lunch and started eating...."can I have a picture with wally" I said randomly.He is a wooden spoon remember that.So I got the picture and all that then I looked up and went "wooooaaaaa" because of how high the thingy in the sky is.But I don't know what it's called.Now this is why I wanted to tell you this story.There is a photo that my Mum took of me sitting on the edge of a 100 meter cliff,with my hair swooshing through the wind and us all looking at all the city's around us.

Later we went the easy way going down the mountain.The rocky road way.I was looking for crystals but found none.At the end we lost our way "in the middle of no where" Dad said.Soon we found our way back. By OLIVIA

Cold Water

Last year 2010 July.Me my dad and little brother went to the Ragland Beach .When we got there we went down to the Beach.The sand was cold. I could tell how cold the water was.I walked slowly towards the water.The beach was quiet.My bother and dad were up on the bank watching me.I started to walk into the water.When I touched the water my heart was beating rapidly my lips went blue.I was breathing fast.I quickly ran out of the water to the cold sand.The wind hit my skin which made it even colder.Goose bumps on my legs spread though my body.I ran back to my dad and brother.It was the coldest water i've ever felt in my life.

My cold and icy feet

I'm at home in my bed trying to go to sleep But I can't I just can't because of all the ratles and clangs in the kichen.I tryied to put my pillow over my ears but no no I can't stand it.Wake up hello sleepy head my brain is saying "wake up wake up WAKE UP" wow okay I'm awake you happy brain. Then my brain tells me mmmmm yummy food go there and eat. So I went But wait. How do I want to eat when I'm not hungry!! I'm going back to bed so mum comes in and says "get up we're having Mc" so I rush to the table and then my sister says "WASH you'r hands" and I said "NA" then my mum said you will or no food. So I go to the bathroom moaning all the way there talking and you guest it moaning to (washing my hands) finished went to the table and ate. After that I saw my togs and my mum too she said "get in the car with your togs". So I got my togs and ran to the car my sisters and brothers were just walking there I said "Hurry up" they said "shush". Along the way me my sisters and brother were sleeping, all snoring too. Then I woke up and we stopped at this beach called Ragland. I was so excited that I woke up everyone up except my dad he was already awake so I jumped outside. Do you know what I felt? I felt prickly, poking and stabbing grass trying to go into my feet but when mum told me to put on my jandles and then I felt conferrable. After that mum said "you guys can go for a swim", weather I want to I know it's cold. So I go to the changing room and I put on my togs I go out and I sit on this huge rock mum,dad,my sisters and brother are already swimming and I (sighing) I'm just not used to it so I put one little toe in the water OMG it is cold like a ice cube in a freezer brrrrrr so I darted out like a dart zooming past everyone mum said "what are you doing it's warm" I said "easy for you to say it's really cold". Then my sister said "are you scared" I said "no" and I dived in and I felt frozen I couldn't move a mussel mum had to help me out and put a towle around me I tryied not to move it felt I was going to break. Finally I was warm and dry I got into my clothes and we headed back home.

I'm never going back

"Really" I said in a happy tone "we are going to the beach" I said to myself. " You might have to pack now if you want to go early" mum said. "What should I pack what should I wear"I said. " I'm going to pack lunch ok" mum said.

When we went there it was a hot and sunny day together. I went in first. I thought it was hot but no it wasn't cold. So every now and then I would run to look at the tide but it would always run back.But then the water got warmer every time. " Aisha 15 more min " said mum. "But mum I have not been in the water yet" I said. "fine 2o more min" said mum. So I went in not caring about how cold it was. So when I went in and I was like a ice cube in the middle of the ocean. But then I my dad jumped in and made a huge splashed I hated him then. I loved it because we splash at each other. I think I splash him real hard because he started to get out but then he did a huge cannon ball.

"Time to get out" Mum said. "Ok" I said. When we got out Dad gave me a towel. " DAD it's cold" I said " Pay back"said dad. When we dry our self we had chips and ice-cream. I will never forget that day.

My cold water rush

" YAY WERE GOING TO THE BEACH " I screamed. " I am so exhilarated to have swim " I said. and when we got there I was already dressed, but as soon as I put my first foot in the water straight away I darted out with a shivering body, while everyone was having more fun than me. I felt pretty embarased.

So I thought that I cold do it, but once again it was FREZZING COLD, even colder than the last time. I started to get dressed but then, BOOM, it hit me, I knew I could do this.

" I said third times the charm, right ". As I was sprinting to the water, I thought why don't i just walk in slowly. And as I was doing that it was working. I actually got in before we left. Then mum called " time to go home now " and I screamed " AAAAAAWWWWWW ".

Devon's Comic Life

For our electives my class did drama. For drama we had to do something about, Where the wild things are, and this is exactally what we did. My group was the best group that did one. We did "what would happen if the wild things forced max to stay". And Mr. T said " spot on people, spot on". And i thought it was pretty good. So we did a very good job.

OMG!! my feet is cold!!!

I went to Raglan with my friends, they said "hop in" "have some fun"!! They were acting like the water was warm. I put my feet in and I am like "OMG" my feet are like an ice cube frozen in a freezer. So I stayed in there for a bit longer.10mins later It started to get warmer as the minute goes on.The my friends started to do canobombs and the splashes were very big. it was like a big whale flipping with a big as splash that wets me!!!
It felt like a big bucket of rain splashed on me!!! It was cold like an icy cold freezer.

Drama in c4

Drama in c4 is really fun becuase we get to just have fun infront of our friends and not feel scared..... Or shamed.

Our Drama was based on Where the Wild things are.it was really fun!

I hope we get to do it more often.

cold experiences

Cold water and I kind of go together because I have had lots of cold experiences. Two years ago on Christmas my dad put up the pool he put in cold water. I never got in. but when mum threw me in I swam for a long time. But when I was a younger I hated cold water until I was 7. My feet would get numb and my body would go red.Now sometimes i've been having cold showers

Drama

For a whole week C4 did drama .Drama is quite cool. I like being the hospital person that is unconscious. I played it and I was shaking and being funny. I felt weird. everybody laughed

Drama Time

On Thursday c4 went to the green room to do Drama. First I got with my buddy Jade and I was a boat going across the sea for miles.While Jade was standing on my tummy and being Max off Where the wild things are.It didn't hurt but it was fun.

Next I was with Arihia,Jade,Trinity and some others. I was a little monster as a baby and Trinity knocked me right over.C4 laughed at me of course.

After was a little like a cat walk but different.same people but this time I was Max walking down to his room and slamming the door closed.

I loved Drama.
It is the best ever, I think it is a good opportunity for people who don't like doing stuff like drama.
I like doing it but sometimes if I am doing it in front of people I chicken out and don't do it. It was great doing drama. I wish we were still doing drama. My friend Savannah is good at drama, so is Arihia and MR T.

I love drama because we all are helpful and caring to each other. It is really cool because we get to pretened that there is fake stuff that you are holding with your hands. e.g a box that is in your hands. This has been really cool to do drama because we do different things every day. Doing drama with my teacher has been cool. I sometimes do drama at home.Jordan has been a very good buddy to me at drama +arihia.

Drama last week

I thoroughly enjoyed the teaching and learning that went on during our drama sessions last week. The class responded well to the activities we did and it was great to hear and see that you could remember some of the techniques and conventions you used. I would love to hear some comments or posts about the drama we did and what else you would like to do in the future. It has been awesome to look at the comic life work you have been doing in regards to Drama. I can show you sometime how to convert it to a picture so you can post them into our blog.

Tornado in Auckland

My Mum turned the T.V in the morning may the 3rd. when she turned it on my mum changed the channel to the news. It said that there was a tornado in auckland. My mum picked up the phone to see if my dad was ok because he worked in auckland. My dad picked up the phone and said he was ok. Me and my mum were so glad he was safe.

Tornadoes and snowballs

Remember the discussion we were having yesterday about how a tornado is made. We were talking about how a snowball is similar in

that it gets bigger and bigger as it is rolled down a hill. A tornado can build up strength and power as more wind is caught up in it. When the hot air that is rising mixes with the cold air above with the different directions of wind, it causes a tornado to form and increase in strength.

So as promised here is a photo of Josh and his friends efforts to make a giant snowball.

The Auckland Tornado

Oh my gosh I can't believe it, a tornado. I hope all the people are alright. Mr T said that a man was lifted into the air and then dropped on to a car park. A school nurse tried to help the man but she couldn't, because the man had a split head.When I heard about it I felt sad for the school nurse and for the man's famliy.

The Terrifying Tornado

Last night was terrifying for Auckland because they had a massive TORNADO!!!!!!
AhHhH!!!

Things started to fling in the air whooshing around making such a disaster!!Lots of people would of bean terrified of course....

The tornado grabbed a man and fling him on to the ground , a nurse tryed to help him but his head was split open....OUCH disgusting to yuck to look. :\
I hope all Auckland's are safe as. B)

In Auckland there was a tornado that hit a place and lots of people were injured by the devastating tornado. When I found out that there was a tornado all I was thinking was "is my Nana and my uncle OK?". Than my Nana rang us and she said that she was alright.

Deadly Torndo

This is a very devastating act and it is very deadly. Many people were injured and one man was killed. A man's head got split opened and a woman tried to save him but his lungs were filled with too much blood . It happened when he was standing in front of a car and the car flew up and he got thrown from the road to the parking lot. I am sorry for the people that have suffered
this deadly tornado. Family members have been hurt and had blood tribble down their knees. I think that they know what it felt like for Christchurch. If I was there I would never beat anything as strong as that, but a ditch or a valley or a puddle could. It is so amazing that a small thing can stop something so large.

In Auckland a tornado happened. I was devestated to find out that hundreds of cars were lifted up and thrown down. One person was killed and some injured.

In my heart I feel concerned and worried for my aunty Coco in Auckland.She had a hard life in the tornado. We can't contact her and she can't either.My heart is pounding with love trying to go to her.Hopefully the tornado stops.I really love her I .hope she doesn't get hurt or anything else.

It was the last day of swmming at gallagher pools. I was at the end holding onto the bars. I did not want to fall out. I was with my class mates. The teacher spun us around and then got hold on one side and lifed it and with a click of her fingers and bam! we all tipped out. Of course it wasn't on purpose.

Mr T's holiday so far

Well the first few days were spent at school getting ready for next term. I thought we might pull apart some computers and see what is inside them and learn a bit about how they work. How does that sound? Anyway, holiday time. What have you guys been up to? I saw Blair in the Fish'n'chip shop last night. He was awesomely polite and sounded like he was having a good break.

I have included some photos of our trip to Rotorua and a Mountain bike trail which is part of the National cycle trail. The kids have been busy doing their own thing these holidays so we haven't spent a lot of time with them.

The Cycle trail runs from Karapiro to Arapuni Dam. It actually goes further, but we had to turn round as we had to pick up Josh to take him to work. The trail follows the Waikato river and goes through some picturesque scenery. Part of it is on a board walk.

If you are into mountain biking and doing jumps than this is not the one. It is a gentle ride with some gentle climbs. No jumps, although I attempted to go off road with little success.

I always enjoy going to Rotorua and this time was no different. We stayed one night at the Youth Hostel. Pretty good accomodation for reasonable rates. A very neat and tidy complex. We spent a lot of our time in restaurants. Our entertainment book came in very handy. I think we have almost got our money back on the purchase of it.

This photo was taken on the Lakeland Queen. A paddle steamer that takes you for a an hour cruise on the lake. Guess who was on the boat at the same time with her family? It was Jane.

We visited the site where on the 10th June 1886 Mount Tarawera exploded and buried a number of nearby villages. Some of the remains of the village are still there with some reconstruction made. The history that was told by reading the posters and boards in the museum was very informative, but I did think it was a little pricey, but it is a tourist town. The waterfall at the end of the walk was quite good as well as the swinging vine, which actually didn't swing much. So far an enjoyable holiday. We will see what the rest of the holiday brings. Would love to see you publishing some of your experiences and maybe photos. Get into it.

room he showed us the saife and then we went to the parana park to eat subways and our ginger beer. And then we went back to school.

Holidays

Us girls on the kayak

It was our turn on the kayak.We had to sit in a line on the sides the like scoober diving fall off while sitting down into the water BACKWARDS!!!

One particular girl was too scared to go off so she just had to slide off that was good.

After that we had to go UNDER the kayak and work as a team to get out.We finaly got out but while we were under some girls and me were SCREAMING.I was screaming because I thought the kayak was gonna sink.

We had to work as a team to get back up into the kayak wich we finaly did.

Gallaghers was fun and we will never forget that day.

Westpac Visit

Our six people that fundraise go to westpac was was me Shirlee, Jordan, trinity, Geogia, Savannah and Jackson..... We were at westpac us meeted the westpac manager, Jackson gave the money to the lady that collects all the money and we took some photos after that we got westpac ginger beer (YUMMY). Us walked to the secret place where the hidden money is, there was two machine that had the money in 1 big one and 1 small one it really looks real..... We went to the park an ate our YUMMY subway and drinking our westpac ginger beer!! it was a very an EXCITing lunch time!! ^_^

These studens are fom deanwell school. We have been learning how to to swim and if we fell out of a boat we would know what to do when we get into a real problem.

Hi my name is Kellen and this is my story. Abseiling is walking down a wall with a harness and a rope or two. On the way up mr talsma was saying that he would not let me do anything that wasn't safe. I was shaking on the way up. Each flight of steps.

When we got to camp I was nervous about some stuff but I was going to do them and I accomplished all of them. It was so so cool. The abseiling was 8 metres high and when we put on the harness it felt like I was in a nappy because it was so tight. abseiling is like doing rock climbing but backwards and when you lean over that is the scarriest part.

Abseilling was one of the biggest wall I have ever seen.Its about 8 metres high and it was very scary for some people. Before we did abseilling we had to put on our harness to keep us safe. When Phil tightened it up it felt like wearing a nappy and it was also giving me a wedgie.

Abseilling is like a huge wall you climb down with a neat saftey harness which feels like a nappy.As you climb up the stairs you might be feeling nervous or even not want to do it.As you get to the top it's tall from up there but short from up there.When you get strapped on to a rope that goes down to the bottom the leader tells you to lean over the edge. It's quite scary.

When I got buckled up and I had to walk up. I was so afraid and when I got up I had to go down. We could practice doing it. When Iwas all ready to go I listened to the ladies instructions.

All about camp

We were about to go to the most awesome place on earth. It was going to be the coolest thing I had ever done. We were going to be away from home for two nights and three days. We know that we were goimg to do a lot of activites that might freak us out.

Super Abseilling

Abseilling is like you are walking down a vertical wall. First a harness must be put on you. When you go down the wall the harness gives you a wedgie.Most people did it like Jackson,Jason,Colton and me.I think it must have been tight on them. I like abseilling. When I did abseilling I was really frightened when I took the first step up the stairs and I smiled at everyone. But my brain went on and told me not to do it. Lynette asked me if wanted to do it or not I said yes. I also said "shut up brain" and took a step back I then looked down and cried. I closed my eyes steped back and back then jumped and jumped. I said yes and as I walked to the next activity I started to cry.

Abseilling is like you are climbing down a vertical wall. First a teacher or a parent harnesses you in. Then you climb to the top of the bulky tower and then a parent or your teacher puts a clip on you. Then a lady called Lynette ties a red rope and ties it on your clip. Then she puts on a white rope again. After that Lynette says to step back and don't look back. Then she said to just put your bottom underneth your legs and keep your legs straight. When you go half way Lynette tells you to bend your knees and jump like a frog. When you jump it's like you are going to die but luckily you have a rope that Lynette holds on to you. Then you jump two or three times and you are at the bottom. After that another comes up and they climb the croocked wooden steps in the bulky tower. They might say don't look down repeating over and over as their fear might be heights. Then when they come up you might say strapped check,clipped check and rope checked. And when we are all done we go to lunch. After a long hard day I felt freacked out when I went down.

Scary Abseilling

The abseilling tower is about two of the classroom.It smelt like the lake because the lake is beside the abseilling wall but not that close.


I hear people stomping their feet on the abseilling wall and jumping down.


For me I didn't do the abseilling but I know how I would feel like .... I would have felt my heart racing faster and faster.


I felt sorry for myself that I didn't do it. :( ^_^

Abseilling is when walk down a steap vertical tower.Then you get harness up before you go up the tower you need to where a helmelt. Then you walk up the steap,high steps until you are up the top. The harness became lose....... I said OH NO I AM GOING TO DIE but when I got up I did not die. when I got up I got up Jamayn was going down so I got chained up just incase I fall down. I felt like a chained up felt weid. Then it was my turn all I did was lean on the egde but then I looked down she said Jordan do not look down BUT... it was to late I said Sorry but I can not do it. So she said ok sweet heat you did well.THE END

Absailing rocks

It was my turn to go up. I was walking up the steep and mysterious steps. When I was half way up I was tired. While I was walking up I tripped over and I was crawling the rest of the way up. When I got up there I was so glad to stop climbing. While I was up there my harness got strapped up. It was so pretty. I was so glad to be up there. "You turn sweet heart" thats what lynete said. When I heard her I just got a big fright. Then I went on and she told me not to look down but when she told me not to it made it tempting to do it. When I looked down I said in my mind I wanted to chicken out but I didn't. While I was half way down Lynete told me to start jumping so I did. It was fun. When I made it down she said that I was one of the best people to do it I said thanks.

When I got to camp I was very excited to see lots of activities that I can accomplish. I wasn't really scared but it was pretty cool. But the abseiling was the most exhilarating thing I did when I got to camp.

Abseilling is like you are walking backwards down a wall. I would not have gone abseilling if Lynette wasn't there. She was there to help me. I really appreciated it. I want to give her a big thank you for helping me overcome my fear.

When you get harnessed up you get butterfly's and you start getting a bit scared but once you get to feed the rope it starts getting really sore when you lean back. When you jump like a frog its hard but once you get to the middle it gets fun but still hard at the same time. When I walked up the flat brown wooden stairs It felt nerveracking. I did not want to do it untill I got all the way to the top. I felt happy and sad at the same time but I did not know why. After that I went back to normal. It was some how weird.
